Handwriting analysis is the art and science of creating a personality profile of the writer by examining (in great detail) the characteristics, traits and strokes of an one's handwriting. As a trained and certified handwriting analyst, I can discover an incredible amount of information about you by way of detailed scientific analysis of your writing sample.
How is this possible?
While we may think our handwriting is simply a conscious activity, it is really an ideomotor response. This means that your brain communicates directly with the motor-reflex muscels in your hand when putting pen to paper. In many respects, your handwriting is like an open window that gives the analyst a clearer view of what is really going on inside the writer.
What are some of the uses of handwriting analysis?
There are many ways that handwriting analysis can be put to work for you. In conjunction with Hypnotherapy and Coaching, for example, Handwriting Analysis can be an excellent tool for:
Self-improvement (i.e., happiness, relationships, achieving goals, etc.)
Career guidance (i.e., choosing a career path that suits your personality) - Our handwriting can show areas we may naturally excel and enjoy. Many people work in professions which are not be well-suited to their personality. Your handwriting can help guide you toward a more fulfilling career path.

How It Works
Once you have selected and paid for your handwriting profile above, I will send you a copy of my simple instruction form by e-mail. Much of the information on the e-mail form is the same as is shown in the Common Questions section of this page, so please read below first.
You have the option of mailing your original handwriting sample to me (by postal mail), or submitting your sample as an image or PDF file. Please note that there are some handwriting traits that are difficult to determine without having the original on-hand. Just be aware that if you choose to send your sample as an image or PDF file, that I may have a question (or two) for you during the analysis if the answer isn't apparant to me from the image. For most of the analysis, however, an ulaltered, uncropped, high-quality image or PDF file will be quite sufficient to produce an accurate profile.
If sending by mail, please enclose your handwriting sample (along with a simple cover-letter noting your name, address and date of original payment) securely in a standard business-size envelope and address as follows:
Stephen Rinaldi, D.MT.
Box 755
Great Barrington, MA 01230
If sending your handwriting sample by e-mail, please note your name and date of original payment in the e-mail body and attach your file. Send to:
handwriting @ stephenrinaldi.com (remove the spaces to each side of the @ symbol)

Common Questions
Q. What should I write for my sample?
A. Interestingly, what you write is not of much importance. It is important, however, that you write in your own words. Your sample must not be copied text (i.e., no poetry, song lyrics, etc.). Simply write about your day, or about a topic that interests you. Your sample should be written in cursive on a plain white unlined standard 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. Releax - use your favorite pen (no pencils, please) - and write. One page is all that's necessary. When you're done, sign your sample.
Q. Can you analyze printing too?
A. Yes, however, please understand that you will not get as detailed of a profile from a printed sample, simply because not as many traits can be analyzed. Printing itself is a trait that reveals certain information about the writer. For example, those that print exclusively often do so in an attempt to hide their emotions. Cursive handwriting (no matter how neat or messy), provides for a much more detailed profile.
Q. How should I submit my sample to you?
A. Ideally, you will mail your original sample to me. Keep a copy for yourself if you like, but send me the original copy at the mailing address below. I can also accept a high-quality, scanned copy by e-mail, but please note that there are some traits I will be able to observe most accurately by analyzing the original. If you do choose to send me a copy, make sure it is a high-quality scan and that the page is completely unaltered and in it's original size and shape. It is very important that you do not crop the sample. Please format your scanned file as PDF (ideal) or JPEG format.
Q. How long does it take and how do you send my profile?
A. Most profiles will be completed within 5 - 7 days after receiving the sample. Your profile report will be sent to you in PDF format by e-mail attachment as soon as it is complete.
Q. What is included in my handwriting profile?
A. The full detailed profile is approximately 10-pages in length and will include results based on the careful analysis of dozens of individual handwriting traits visible in your sample. Traits are analyzed on both the macro and micro-level - and the result is a highly personalized profile.
The basic profile, while much less detailed, does still provide an excellent overview for those that would like to "test the results", so to speak, prior to commissioning a full report. I do analyze the writing sample for the basic profile with the same great attention to detail as the full-profile option, but do not provide as much explanation in the report. The basic profile is approximately 4 - 5 pages in length.
Q. Does handwriting change over time?
A. The short answer is yes. Your handwriting can change somewhat over time. In fact, your handwriting can even change from one day to the next - or even from one hour to the next, depending on your state of mind. Someone under stress will show that in their handwriting. For most people, however, there are many handwriting traits that do not change throughout their lives (with some exceptions).
Q. If my handwriting reflects so much about me, can I change my writing to reflect traits I want in myself?
A. Yes, technically, you can. From a hypnotherapy standpoint, however, I discourage this approach. The reason being that often there are sub-conscious defenses in place that will cause resistance to change in this way. In my view, it is more effective to address any issues through hypnosis - and then watch the handwriting change in congruence with new positive habits and behaviors.
Q. What's the difference between a handwriting analysis and a signature-only analysis?
A. While your handwriting shows what's really going on inside you -- your signature represents how you want to present yourself to others. While sometimes there is some congruence between the two - often there are distinct differences. We can learn a great deal about the writer by analyzing their signature. I encourage you to order an analysis of both your handwriting and your signature - this combination with provide greater insight for self-development purposes.
